At SheResponds, we know what it is like to be underestimated, sidelined, over-relied upon, and stereotyped as women in uniform.

We also know women do not need to be “fixed” to succeed in policing. They need practical mentorship, fair opportunity, strong leadership, and other women willing to share what they have learned.

The Story That Started It All

It was a simple Christmas gift in 2022: a kitchen sponge, left for our founder by a male colleague on her squad.

A harmless joke? Maybe.

But it was also a reminder of the uphill battle women face in professions still shaped by old assumptions: a battle to be seen as equals, trusted as leaders, and judged by the work instead of the stereotype.

That sponge was the spark for SheResponds. And it still rides shotgun in my patrol car!

Why We Exist

SheResponds is a practical support and leadership space for women in policing.

We are here to help women build stronger careers, document their accomplishments, prepare for opportunities, set professional boundaries, find good mentors, and support one another without competing for scraps.

We believe better culture starts with how people are treated—in briefing, in training, during promotion processes, after mistakes, and when life gets complicated.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support, mentor, and empower women in policing through candid conversation, practical career tools, and a community committed to helping women grow.

We are not here to clean up anyone else’s mess.

We are here to lead, to support, and to respond.
